Medical problems and emergencies

Rutgers International Emergency Assistance is a program offered through SOS International that is designed to complement medical coverage with more comprehensive emergency protection. It includes such eventualities as medically supervised repatriation, legal access, translator/interpreter assistance, return of traveling companion or of minor children, emergency medication, and pre-trip medical referral information, among many other benefits.

It is more or less automatically available to all Rutgers students and staff, but the study tour group should be registered in the name of a trip leader, who will receive an ID card and contact information in advance of the trip and who can act on behalf of anyone in the group. Instructions for enrollment are available at Rutgers International Emergency Assistance.
