Seminars and Study Tour, 3 credits. Five to eight seminars (minimum of 15 contact hours) that constitute a mini-course on a defined area of study. Meeting times may be announced in the Schedule of Courses or arranged after pre-registration. The trip, mandatory for all students, deepens the academic experience through first-hand observation and research. Instructor undertakes the course as an overload and for an honorarium paid by the program.
Plus Option, 1 or 1.5 credits. The instructor teaches a standard, full-semester course for the usual credit value. Either during or immediately following the course, a related study trip is offered. Students enrolled in the regular course may sign up for the trip, completing assignments that commensurate with the value of the additional credit. Course counts in the faculty member's regular load; no honorarium.
Eight and Six, 3 credits. The course meets for eight weeks (24 classroom hours) on a regular schedule announced in the Schedule of Courses. The experience of the tour, mandatory for all students, accounts for the remaining six weeks of the course. The first meeting must coincide with the beginning of the term. Counts in the faculty member's load; no honorarium.
